Katherin
I don't know which area you are from but each town has a drug action team (D.A.T). or local safer partnership if you call your local borough council they will give you the contact details. The D.A.T. will have all the information you need regarding treatment services and support for both you and your daughter. Also check out the ADFAM web site they have links to local services in your area. you are welcome to give us a ring on 01429 260110 and we will be happy to direct you.

hi katherine get your daughter to your gp as soon as you can before she changes her mind and by going to your gp with you she is showing committment,if your daughter can prove to the gp he would refer her to an emergency drug councillor. but you must act quickly ,if you need any advice or someone just to talk to please ask mike

Can someone give me some advice please. I have a 18 year old son who is taking methadone. he picks up a prescription each week and keeps it at home. My youngest child who is only 3 sometimes goes into his room and I am worried he might find the methadone. Is their a cheap locking box or something I can buy that he will not be able to open.

Peter,
Here in Hartlepool our local fire brigade offer lockable cabinets to store methadone free of charge. If you live in this area you need to contact Lyndsay Galbraith (01429 872311) and she will be happy to help. If not please ring me on 01429 260110 and I will check out what is available in your area. It is most important that the methadone is locked away and kept well out of reach of your young son as I'm sure that you are aware of the danger it poses.
Please let me know if you get a cabinet or if I can help further
Kay

Sam,
Firstly could you please contact our office on 01429260110 as I would like to send you some information which contains what drug's look like and parental advice concerning drug/alcohol. Have you spoken to your daughter regarding the herb like substance you found? Talking is usually a good place to start. communication is important and can save misunderstanding's and give assurance. Various strain's of cannabis do resemble herb's however that does not say that what your daughter has is cannabis. If you could contact us we could inform you of your options and as to how you would stand in regards to the law.

I would just like to say a BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE AT PINS. all you support and information has helped me so much. I was a nervous wreck worrying about my son's addiction but through weeks of support I am much stronger now and hopefully I will soon be able to support my son and we will not be arguing over everything. thanks again
