Could you possibly put me in touch with another father in Hartlepool who is in a similar situation as me. My wife and I are going through a very difficult time with our 17 year old son who is drinking and smoking cannabis. At the moment the biggest problem for me is the possible breakdown of our marriage caused by the arguments over our son.

Hi Mike,
I'm happy to say that my daughter is doing really well. She is receiving treatment and although she had a couple of little relapses things are going great. I think the advice about possible relapses were so important so that I really understood it was not a case of " here we go again"
Hope you are ok Mike and hope your Daughter is doing well.

Just like to keep everyone informed. I have my Daughter back! we won the fight against her addiction. she now has a job, a lovely new apartment and we get along so well. Thank you to the staff at PINS who offered my so much advice and support and to all the other parents who took time to enquire how I was.

Hi Sam,
Everyone is different So when someone says 'methadone makes you sick/tired/itchy' etc what they mean is that methadone has that effect on them- it may or may not have a similar effect on someone else. some people experience a few, some or all the effects such as: . high/mood change . drowsiness/sleep . nausia- if you vomit after taking methadone it is more likely to be caused by a psychological or medical problem (or, if you drink, by alcohol) . slower, shallower breathing In some people methadone causes the release of histamine ( which is normally only released in allergic reactions and can cause: . sweating . itching . flushing of the skin
It is always advisable for your son to check with his prescribing doctor and or caseworker. please telephone our office we have a very good collection of information booklets and hanbooks that will give you all the information on methadone treatment.
Best wishes
Kay

Just wanted to know if anyone could help me, I'm currently studying Journalism at Southampton Solent University, and I’m writing a feature on 'Living with someone else's addiction'. I would like to possibly get an interview with someone who is currently or has been through this. If you wouldn't mind being interviewed through email or phone please contact me my email address is tehona_waugh@msn.com. I strongly believe this feature will be able to help students and young adults that are going through this.
